Revenge (2017)
This rape and revenge action horror is nothing short of spectacular and destroys the male gaze in the eyes of the audience. The movie follows a woman who goes on a trip with her married lover. Unfortunately, his friends show up. While he’s out of the house his friend proceeds to rape her while the others watched and when he returns, he apologizes and attempts to offer her money.
Threatening to reveal his secret to his wife. The men assault her, she escapes and ends up at the edge of a cliff and is pushed over by one of them. Left to die, she somehow survives, recuperates in a cave, and tries to avoid them.
Rated R for its severe nudity and violence.
The Brave One
After the death of Erica’s fiancé David as a result of injuries inflicted on him following an unprovoked attack, Erica, the lead character, struggles to return back to normal life.
Living in fear, she buys a gun from a black-market gun dealer and shortly after, she uses it for self-defence when she witnesses a convenience store robbery. Following this, she undergoes a personality transformation as she starts shooting a number of criminals and becomes a vigilante. The detective assigned to finding her husband’s murderers is also assigned to finding the vigilante killer, and begins to suspect her once they realize the vigilante is female.
The delivery of the movie is stunning, and you almost don’t want it to end.
It’s rated 14A for severe violence and drug use scenes.
Peppermint
Peppermint is a vigilante thriller that follows the journey of a mother on a quest for revenge. She seeks to bring the killers of her family to justice, who had been set free.
Five years after the death of her family, she returns from self-imposed exile and makes those who took everything from responsible for their actions.
It’s rated 14A for its frightening and intense scenes.
Mad Max: Fury Road
In this post-apocalyptic action film, civilization has collapsed, and the world is a deserted wasteland with dwindling resources. Max, a survivor captured by an army of tyrant Joe appears to be the main character, the hero. However, he is not. The hero of the movie is Joe’s Lieutenant Imperator Furiosa who, when sent on a mission to collect ammunition and gasoline, escapes with Joe’s five wives who he had selected for “breeding”. This leads to an action-packed chase through the desert.
It’s rated 14A for its moderate violence and sexual content.
Kill Bill: Volume 1
A 2003 American martial art cult classic written and directed by Quentin Tarentnio, Kill Bill: Volume 1 remains one of his most rewatchable movies. From set production to soundtrack it remains a visual masterpiece. As the name suggests the main character of the movie is a bride on a quest of revenge to kill a team of assassins led by a man named Bill, following an attempt on her life by him and his team.
Rated R for severe violence and gore scenes, along with mild sex and nudity.
Thelma & Louise
With a plot that never grows old, Thelma and Louise is a buddy movie about Thelma, a woman married to a man who likes the picturesque wife, and Louise who is dating a musician. The women, who are both waitresses, take a trip without Thelma telling her husband and get on the adventure of a lifetime.
Unfortunately, their trip goes south when Louise kills a man that tries to rape Thelma. They consider reporting to the police but doubt they will be believed, so they go on the run. They pick up a drifter who Thelma is smitten with, but eventually robs Thelma out of her life’s savings. Desperate, the women rob a convenience store, and the police are hot on their tail.
14A for moderate sexual content and violence.
Enough
Starting out like the ultimate love story, Enough is the story of a waitress who falls in love with a wealthy man and where everything seems perfect. They have a daughter together and everything is fine even though we see scenes of him being a bit aggressive. Like the main character, we feel inclined to think nothing of it and chuck it up to passion.
After she questions him about his infidelity, things go south. She becomes a regular punching bag until she escapes with their daughter. Being wealthy and connected, he spares no resources to find her. With their custody case looming and her being tired of running, she finally gets training and decides the time to run is over.
14A for moderate violence, gore and profanity.

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
A symbol of cinematic feminism, it follows a genius hacker and vigilante who is committed to hurting men who abuse women. From her childhood, when she set her father on fire for the sadistic abuse of her mother. Her main motivator and occupation is revenge.
Over the course of her life, she comes across vile men who are committed to hurting women. Detached from most she eventually connects with a man who becomes her lover and close friend. Together, they investigate a string or murders of young girls on an island.
It features Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, and is rated 18A for intense sexual and violent scenes.
