Number 1 : You Get Me (2017)
You Get Me is a 2017 American thriller film directed by Brent Bonacorso, written by Ben Epstein, and starring Bella Thorne, Halston Sage, Taylor John Smith, Anna Akana and Nash Grier. Tyler is a high school student in love with his girlfriend Alison (“Ali”). One night at a party, Tyler discovers that Ali used to be a heavy partier and would often drink and sleep around. Tyler gets angry and the couple breaks up. In the last scene, Holly shoots Tyler in the shoulder and then Ali picks up the fire poker, which Tyler had dropped when the two were confronted by Holly, and stabs Holly. Later, Holly, still alive, is wheeled into the back of an ambulance and asks the paramedic man to never leave her and makes him promise. The film was released on Netflix on June 23, 2017.
Number 2 : The Babysitter (2017)
The Babysitter is a 2017 American teen black comedy horror film directed by McG and written by Brian Duffield. It stars Samara Weaving, Judah Lewis, Hana Mae Lee, Robbie Amell and Bella Thorne. A sequel, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, was released on September 10, 2020. A 12-year-old Cole finds out his beloved babysitter belongs to a murderous satanic cult of teenagers. Cole must put his crush for his babysitter aside and escape their grasp before they sacrifice him for personal gain. The film was released by Netflix on October 13, 2017, and received mostly positive reviews from critics.
Number 3 : Cam (2018)
Cam (stylized as CAM) is a 2018 American psychological horror film directed by Daniel Goldhaber and written by Isa Mazzei from a story by Goldhaber, Mazzei and Isabelle Link-Levy. The story is partially drawn from writer Mazzei’s own experience working as a camgirl. The film is the first feature film for both Goldhaber and Mazzei. It stars Madeline Brewer, Patch Darragh, Melora Walters, Devin Druid and Michael Dempsey. It is a co-production between Divide/Conquer, Blumhouse Productions and Gunpowder & Sky. The film premiered at the Fantasia International Film Festival on July 18, 2018, and was released on November 16, 2018, by Netflix. It received a largely positive reception from critics, who praised the atmosphere, direction, and Brewer’s performance, but it also received a mixed reception from audiences.
Number 4 : After We Collided (2020)
After We Collided is a 2020 American romantic drama film directed by Roger Kumble and written by Anna Todd and Mario Celaya. It is based on the 2014 new adult fiction novel of the same name by Todd and is the sequel to After (2019). The film stars Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin reprising their roles as Tessa Young and Hardin Scott, respectively, with Dylan Sprouse, Shane Paul McGhie, Candice King, Khadijah Red Thunder, Inanna Sarkis, Samuel Larsen, and Selma Blair in supporting roles. After We Collided was released in selected European countries on September 2, 2020, before being released simultaneously in theatres and video-on-demand in the United States on October 23, 2020, by Open Road Films. Two sequels, titled After We Fell, set for release in September 2021, and After Ever Happy, are in post-production while a prequel and another sequel are in development.
Number 5: Yes, God, Yes (2019)
Yes, God, Yes is a 2019 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Karen Maine and starring Natalia Dyer. It is Maine’s directorial debut, based on her 2017 short film of the same name also starring Dyer. The film premiered at the SXSW Film Festival on March 8, 2019. It was released in selected drive-in theatres and virtual cinemas on July 24, 2020, before launching digitally and on video on demand on July 28, 2020. The film was made available on Netflix on October 22, 2020.
Number 6 : Under the Skin
Under the Skin is a 2013 science fiction film directed by Jonathan Glazer and written by Glazer and Walter Campbell, loosely based on the 2000 novel by Michel Faber. It stars Scarlett Johansson as an otherworldly woman who preys on men in Scotland. The film premiered at Telluride Film Festival on 29 August 2013. It was released in the United Kingdom on 14 March 2014, North America on 4 April 2014, Switzerland on 23 July 2014, and worldwide on 10 August 2014. Glazer developed Under the Skin for over a decade; he and co-screenwriter Walter Campbell pared it back from an elaborate, special effects-heavy concept to a sparse storey focusing on an alien perspective of the human world. Most of the cast was chosen from applicants without previous acting experience, and many scenes were filmed with hidden cameras.
Number 7 : Equals
Nia (Kristen Stewart) and Silas work together in a futuristic society known as the Collective. In a seemingly utopian world, the Collective has ended crime and violence by genetically eliminating all human emotions. Despite this, Nia and Silas develop a growing attraction that leads to a forbidden and passionate romance. As suspicion begins to mount among their superiors, the couple must choose between going back to the safety of their lives or risking it all to try and pull off a daring escape.
Number 8 : The Late Bloomer (2016)
After the removal of a benign brain tumour, a 30-year-old sex therapist (Johnny Simmons) who has never gone through puberty has his world turned upside-down as he’s thrown into a whirlwind of physical and emotional changes, all while desperately trying to win over the girl next door. Based on “Man-Made: A Memoir of My Body” by Ken Baker.
Number 9 : Elisa and Marcela (2019)
Elisa & Marcela (Spanish: Elisa y Marcela) is a 2019 Spanish biographical romantic drama film directed by Isabel Coixet. Starring Natalia de Molina and Greta Fernández, the film tells the story of Elisa Sánchez Loriga and Marcela Gracia Ibeas, two women who posed as heterosexual couples in order to marry in 1901 at Church of Saint George in A Coruña becoming the first same-sex matrimony recorded in Spain. It was selected to compete for the Golden Bear at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival. It was released on 24 May 2019, in selected theatres in Spain, and on 7 June 2019, by Netflix.
And the Last one : An Easy Girl
An Easy Girl is a 2019 French comedy film directed by Rebecca Zlotowski, starring Zahia Dehar, Mina Farid, Benoît Magimel and Nuno Lopes. Set in the summertime on the French Riviera, the film follows a 16-year-old who is drawn into her cousin’s free-spirited lifestyle, despite warnings from her concerned best friend. It was screened in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the SACD Award for Best French-language Film.
