Historical romance is a broad category of fiction in which the plot takes place in a setting located in the past. Number 1 : Poldark
Poldark is a British historical drama television series based on the novels of the same title by Winston Graham and starring Aidan Turner in the lead role. The series was written and adapted by Debbie Horsfield for the BBC, and directed by several directors throughout its run. Set between 1781 and 1801, the plot follows the title character on his return to Cornwall after the American War of Independence in 1783. The series first aired on BBC One in the United Kingdom on 8 March 2015 in eight episodes, and in seven episodes on PBS in the United States, which supported the production, on 21 June 2015 as part of its Masterpiece anthology. The first series was based on the first two Poldark novels by Graham. It is the second screen adaptation of Graham’s novels, following a television series broadcast by BBC One between 1975 and 1977.
Number 2 :Kurt Seyit ve Sura
Kurt Seyit ve Şura is a Turkish television drama based on a novel of the same name in a series. (It is not a direct adaptation of Kurt Seyt ve Murka, which is the second novel in the series, nor of Shura, which is the third novel.) It was broadcast on Star TV from 4 March to 20 November 2014 for two seasons and 22 episodes. Nermin Bezmen, the writer of the novel is the granddaughter of Kurt Seyit. The show “Kurt Seyit ve Sura” is based on a true story where a handsome army major falls in love with a Russian girl. This show was re-aired on Netflix in 2019.
Number 3 :North & South
North and South is a social novel published in 1854 by English writer Elizabeth Gaskell. With Wives and Daughters (1865) and Cranford (1853), it is one of her best-known novels and was adapted for television three times (1966, 1975 and 2004). The 2004 version renewed interest in the novel and attracted a wider readership. Gaskell’s first novel, Mary Barton (1848), focused on relations between employers and workers in Manchester from the perspective of the working poor; North and South use a protagonist from southern England to present and comment on the perspectives of mill owners and workers in an industrializing city. The novel is set in the fictional industrial town of Milton in the north of England. Forced to leave her home in the tranquil, rural south, Margaret Hale settles with her parents in Milton.
Number 4 :Gran Hotel
Gran Hotel (English: Grand Hotel) is a Spanish drama television series created by Ramón Campos and Gema R. Neira which stars Yon González and Amaia Salamanca. It originally aired on Antena 3 from 2011 to 2013. It debuted on Sky Arts 1 in the UK in 2012. Produced by Bambú Producciones the series was filmed at the Palacio de la Magdalena in Santander. It is set in an early 20th-century aristocratic hotel during the reign of Alfonso XIII and is centred on the mysteries that involve the owner’s family and the hotel servants.
Number 5 :Empress Ki
Empress Ki is a South Korean historical drama television series starring Ha Ji-won as the titular Empress Ki. It aired on MBC from October 28, 2013, to April 29, 2014, on Mondays and Tuesdays at 21:55 for 51 episodes. A domestic and overseas hit, the series received the Golden Bird Prize for Serial Drama at the 9th Seoul International Drama Awards. Ha, Ji-won also won the Grand Prize at the MBC Drama Awards for her performance.
Number 6 :Cable Girls
Cable Girls is a Spanish period drama streaming television series that ran from April 2017 and concluded in July 2020. Set in the late 1920s, it stars Ana Fernández, Nadia de Santiago, Blanca Suárez and Maggie Civantos. The first season, consisting of eight episodes, premiered on Netflix worldwide on 28 April 2017. The first half of the fifth and final season was released on Netflix on 14 February 2020. The second half of the fifth and final season was released on Netflix on 3 July 2020.

Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin, the first of which is A Game of Thrones. The show was shot in the United Kingdom, Canada, Croatia, Iceland, Malta, Morocco, and Spain. It premiered on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011, and concluded on May 19, 2019, with 73 episodes broadcast over eight seasons.
Number 8 :The Queen and the Conqueror
The Queen and the Conqueror is a Colombian historical drama television series created by Johhny Ortiz, and directed by Camilo Villamizar, and Juan Carlos Vásquez. The series revolves around the history that led to the founding of the city of Cartagena de Indias, of major importance in The Americas. The series is recorded on 4K Ultra-high-definition television. The show is filmed in Colombia, specifically in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the banks of the Magdalena River and Palomino, Villa de Leyva, and Santa Fe de Antioquia. It stars Essined Rivera Aponte and Emmanuel Esparza as the main’s characters.
And the Last one:Wounded Love
Vatanım Sensin (alternatively known as Wounded Love in English) is a Turkish television period drama about the last years of the Ottoman Empire and the Turkish War of Independence. The main character “Cevdet” is based on the life of Mustafa Mümin Aksoy, whose nickname was “Gavur Mümin”. The first episode was aired on 26 October 2016 on Kanal D. It stars Halit Ergenç as “Cevdet” and Bergüzar Korel as “Azize”. The series begins with the Balkan War, after World War 1 and the death of Hasan Tahsin, who was the first to open fire on the Greek soldiers that landed at Izmir on May 15, 1919. The first season finished with the foundation of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on April 23, 1920. The second season begins with the Treaty of Sèvres on August 10, 1920. The series finished with the Liberation of İzmir by the Turkish army on September 9, 1922.
